Kenan Isitt

Kenan Isitt, partner at Carney Gillespie Isitt PLLPKenan Isitt has advocated fiercely and effectively for his clients at every stage of his career. He’s represented several clients who have sued police departments for excessive use of force, including a minister who was beaten by police during a protest in Seattle.

Kenan successfully defended a man who was wrongfully charged with obstructing police while peacefully protesting during Seattle’s 2013 May Day demonstration. A jury acquitted his client, who was forcefully shoved to the ground and hit by police in riot gear. Kenan has filed a federal lawsuit against the police for this incident, alleging violations of the First Amendment, excessive force, and false reporting.

Earlier on in his legal career, Kenan litigated criminal defense and family law cases as one of two managing partners at Ivy Law Group PLLC, where he helped run all aspects of the firm’s business, including case management, research, and trial preparation.

While a student at Seattle University School of Law, Kenan interned at the Society of Counsel Representing Accused Persons, assisting attorneys with legal research for misdemeanors and major felony cases.

Kenan has been practicing law since he graduated from Seattle University in 2004 and is a founding partner of Carney Gillespie Isitt PLLP.

“Kenan represented me very successfully in a car accident/personal injury case. I was seriously injured and my insurance company was refusing to pay my bills without explanation. Kenan straightened them out, got my bills all paid, and eventually got me a very fair settlement … He kept me informed throughout the process and I recommend him highly.”
